Our primary bottling from Luminous Hills Vineyard, the “Silver” label, is always a selection of barrels from across the vineyard: both volcanic and sedimentary soils, varying elevations, the many aspects from southwest to southeast, and the varied clones – essentially, the “big picture” of the vineyard, built for balance and aging, but also for broader accessibility. The differences between the distinct expressions from the diverse parts of the vineyard are particularly apparent in this exception vintage, relatively cooler than most recent vintages, but still slightly above average heat units (where this high elevation vineyard shines). The result from the careful selection of barrels and unique qualities of the vintage is a wine with impeccable balance and range, fruit and spice, power and depth, elegance and grace.
