While the Pommard clone, which makes up 38% of the Luminous Hills vineyard, always produces sublime barrels, their forte has always been in the ability to elevate a blend and provide a foundation. Sometimes Pommard can just be too much of a good thing all by itself. But, when a barrel such as this one comes along, it is the exception that proves the rule (the definition of a Joker’s barrel is one that is so profound, so complete, that to blend it with anything would be to lose something special and it must stand alone). This wine has an additional story: for those of you who pre-ordered this wine, you ordered the Joker’s Pommard, but federal labeling laws now (as in the moment we printed our labels) preclude our using the word Pommard (understandably, being a place in Burgundy) on the label, so we have renamed and reprinted the label as the Joker’s Wild. It is the same barrel, just a different name, and for those who bought this wine, you will receive both the Joker’s Wild label (on the bottle) and the Joker’s Pommard label on the side (to do with as you wish). Neutral French Oak Barrel. 14.1% Alcohol. 28.6% Whole Cluster Fermented.
