2017 Estate Grown LUX Pinot Noir

Again, smaller in production than previous years, this time a mere three select barrels, the same as the inaugural vintage in 2008. True to the lineage of this wine, the main component (52%) is from the Pommard clone on sedimentary soil at the base of the vineyard for structure, power and dark fruit, balanced with the highly complementary 777 clone from the upper elevation Jory volcanic soils, delivering complementary higher tones. In recent years, as the vineyard has matured, the 777 clone has taken on more concentration and power of it’s own, so for this wine, the 777 takes on a heftier portion of the blend at 43%. The remaining 5% is a dollop of 115 clone that adds a sneaky dimension of spice.
