Even warmer than the year prior, 2015 was a new warmest vintage on record, but surprisingly one with characteristics that, counter to the relatively high temperatures, provided qualities for depth, richness, complexity and balance rarely seen in any vintage. Those characteristics included an early start, a generous crop (carrying more fruit slowed down sugar development and acid depletion). The Lux is derived from six barrels selected out of the southwestern blocks of Luminous Hills; with an emphasis on the lower elevation Pommard on sedimentary soil providing the darker fruit profile complemented with brighter elegant red fruit qualities from the 777 at higher elevation on Jory volcanic soil. The Lux is a rich, hearty, and lusty Pinot Noir imbued with dark fruit, rich texture, spiciness and balancing focused red fruit. 33% whole cluster fermented and barrel aged in all French cooperage.
